Patterns as website backgrounds have become very popular. If used correctly I think patterns are great. Subtle Patterns delivers a huge collection of free patterns for website backgrounds. Even though I have only used one of the patterns supplied over there , I still check back once in a while to look at the ever growing collection. Every item of the bunch is license-free and can be used in private and commercial projects. The website is also realy nice and does a great job previewing those patterns.
